Using Your Cell phone for Your Job Hunt

I'll wager that of all the tools available to you in your job hunt, your cell phone wasn't the first that came to mind was it? There are many opportunities to get your phone involved in the action with the technology available today. Nearly all cell phones have the capability to receive email, so with a simple adjustment to your account settings, you can also have a job alert sent to your cell phone! For example, I have a Samsung SCKA930 - which is a pretty simple phone - but I get tons of different kinds of alerts on it every day.

We have found that one of the top criteria for the employers that come to your site is speed - how fast can they find the right candidate - that’s a critical piece of the puzzle for them. Many of them are excited at the prospect of hearing from candidates as soon as possible. This means that you should use whatever tool you have to get those job alerts as quickly as possible so you can get in front of the right employer fast.

If you have a PDA or other such device, you're even that much better off as any web capabilities your device has can only increase your opportunities.

Often may people have email capabilities within their cell phone and they don't even know it.

Sites like Verizon's vtext site give you an area to test your phone's capabilities. Most of the other wireless providers offer similar web gateways with which you can try some of the more advanced features of your wireless phone as well.

Using your cell phone, you can gain a competitive edge over other less tech-savvy job hunters. Simply add the phone email and let the leads come pouring in!
